Sorry I know this has nothing to do with Fly Fishing but I had to share what happened to me today.
Today while I was at home working on my computer when someone knocked on our door. I didn’t answer it because I was “working”. On the third knock I began to get suspicious. Then I looked out our kitchen window and saw someone unlatching our RV gate from the out side. As I continued to watch he came through and started coming towards our window. When I realized what was happening I ran to our bedroom to get my shoes a the baseball bat I usually keep near by. When I could not find the bat I grabbed the only thing I could find which was a wood rod we use to stick in our door (to prevent this very thing from happening). Along with my dog, pumped full of adrenalin I ran out our back door and around the side of our house just as they (now two of them) where trying to break into our home.
One ran back through the gate and the other jumped over. I was able to catch up to the one jumping over and when he landed he was surprised by a few bashes from the rod I grabbed. While fighting he dropped his backpack. He then ran after his buddy. I chased them down the street where they got into a car driven by a third guy. Luckily as this was happening one of our neighbors (who I am very grateful to) stopped and called the police. I was able to get their license plate number and between me and the ladies who stopped we were able to make out a pretty good ID. Thanks to our great police department who was on the scene in minutes they were able to catch up to the burglars and had them in cuffs no longer than 15 minutes from the call. Turns out when the call went out from the dispatcher the burglars were driving right behind an under cover officer, nice. I was able to make a ID and they are now sitting in Jail. The backpack that was left behind had a tire iron as well as some additional empty bags which I assume were going to be used to load up my families belongings. The Police mentioned that because of the use of the tire iron they think these guys may be tied to several burglaries in the area.
It turns out my wife (who had just left 15 minutes prior to the break in) saw the Green Minivan as she was backing out of the drive way. She remembered it because it was driving suspiciously. We are assuming that when they saw her leave they assumed everyone was gone. I am just grateful that on this day I was home and not my wife and son.
Just an average day in the life of a Crime Fighting Real Estate Broker….

Dude that’s crazy!!! Glad no one was hurt, except for the dirt bag who took a couple smacks with the rod.
Where was your bag of oranges? You need a sack full of oranges next to your bed. I mean you were always a pretty good shot with those oranges. Just ask all the dogs and horses in South Phoenix.
Do you throw oranges at horses? You had better not! Great crime fighting story and wer’re glad you are o.k.
Do you suppose they will be living in a tent and be wearing pink underwear?
Good work! Glad you busted those idiots…
